As the demand for summer travel returned in force last year, as Irish consumers look to the skies after past summers of staycations. Summer 2023 is set to be a year of continuing resurgence in a post-pandemic world. Aer Lingus’ three new summer destinations will allow travellers to tap into these trends as each provides many different types of experiences to be enjoyed by those feeling wanderlust in 2023. It is also increasing capacity on other popular European routes including, Alicante, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Perpignan, Izmir, Bordeaux, and Athens from Dublin. Aer Lingus is increasing its peak summer capacity to Malaga and Faro from both Cork and Dublin. The summer 2023 schedule reflects the huge resurgence in leisure travel and the increasing demand for European sun destinations, particularly the Mediterranean. It will also operate two* direct transatlantic routes from Manchester to JFK and Orlando. Sustainable aviation fuel is playing a huge part in Aer Lingus’ commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with the carrier signing two supply deals for SAF with producers Gevo and Aemetis starting from 2025. This year Aer Lingus also took delivery of two Airbus A320neos – one aircraft named the ‘St Aidan’ to boost short-haul flights and a second aircraft called the ‘St Thomas’ joining the fleet shortly after. It will also be launching a brand new North American service to Cleveland, Ohio, and resuming flights to Hartford, Connecticut, next year increasing its overall transatlantic network to 17 destinations from the UK and Ireland.Īer Lingus also marked the one-year anniversary of direct transatlantic flights from the airline’s new UK Manchester base in October, flying direct to New York, JFK, Orlando, Florida, and Barbados, the airline notched up 670 round trips flown across the Atlantic to date, with Cabin Crew serving customers more than 350,000 inflight dining options over the last 12 months.įollowing the success of its Manchester hub launch, Aer Lingus’ will look to build on its achievement next year and consolidate its position with customers in the north of England. This year saw Aer Lingus re-introduce eight direct routes to its network from its Dublin home, most recently to Miami in late October, increasing connections to ‘The Sunshine State’.
